Salman Khan Gets EMOTIONAL As He Recalls He Had No Work After Maine Pyar Kiya: ‘Bhagyashree Pura Credit Leke Chali Gayi’
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has had his fair share of struggles before making big in the entertainment industry. The actor, who hosted this year’s IIFA awards, recalled his struggling days and revealed he had no work for months after the release of his super hit film ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. Salman said that his co-star Bhagyashree announced she is quitting the industry to get married and thus she took all the credit for the film. He also mentioned that it was filmmaker Ramesh Taurani who saved his career.

Speaking at the award ceremony, the Sultan actor said, “After Maine Pyar Kiya released, Bhagyashree decided she didn't want to work anymore, because she wanted to get married. Aur wo pura credit leke chali gayi (she took all the credit). For six months, I had no movie. And that's when a 'devta saman aadmi' (God-like man), Ramesh Taurani, entered my life. My father at that point of time paid 2000 rupees and coaxed producer GP Sippy to make a fake announcement in a film industry magazine that he had signed me for a film. GP did that but there was no picture. But Ramesh Taurani went to Sippy's office and paid 5 lakh for the music of the film. It was because of those 5 lakhs that I finally got a film called Patthar Ke Phool (1991). Thank you!” ALSO READ:  SHOCKING! The 56-year-old actor went on to reveal that Suneil Shetty gifted him a shirt and a wallet that he wanted to buy but didn't have money to buy it.
Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ was Salman's first movie as a lead actor and it marked the acting debut of actress Bhagyashree. The 1989 released romantic musical comedy narrated a story of two individuals’ journey from friendship to how they fall in love but later have to fight family differences to be together.

The movie became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year and the highest-grossing Indian film of the 1980s.
